Currently, we are seeking candidates for a Manufacturing Supervisor opening to join our operations organization in Amana, IA. Amana, the North American location where Whirlpool’s premium line refrigerators are built.

The Manufacturing Supervisor is a key leadership position that directs and is responsible for the production operation. This position ensures that all daily activities for assembly line are assigned to customer focus and performed in a manner consistent with the achievement of the plant vision and its goals and objectives. This position is a key decision maker and escalation point for value stream issues or decisions across the assigned shift.

Functional Overview

Reporting to the Operations Manager in this role, you will have the principal responsibility for 3rd shift processes (midnight to 7am ) for one assembly line and own shift metrics around Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery performance and production objectives in the department. You will have people management responsibilities for between 100-150 hourly production employees. Additional assignments and l projects may be assigned.

Job Responsibilities

Has responsibility and accountability for an assigned area in the production facility, leading a team of 100-150 hourly employees in attainment of S.Q.D.C (safety, quality, delivery and cost) goals and objectives

  • Lead your area to achieve safety, quality, delivery and cost targets

  • Meet financial and productivity goals

  • Conduct audits in your area of responsibility for 5S, quality, and standardized work

  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment.

  • Drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and daily performance on the shift

  • Oversee and audit KRONOS for hourly associates.

  • Schedule manpower for the shift

  • Support all WCM (World Class Manufacturing) initiatives through participation in focused area improvement activities to create a continuous improvement culture with all production workers

  • Complete administrative paperwork (reports for safety, HR, payroll, attendance, vacation, etc.)

  • Participate in problem-solving activities and the execution of activities defined in that process preferred understanding of WCM methodology

  • Lead or assist in projects to improve safety, quality, and/or cost metrics.

  • Work in a cross-functional environment with other departments to maintain equipment, meet schedules and to accomplish department goals.

  • Monitor and measure key indicators of department performance.

  • Communicate effectively with associates, peers and division leadership to effectively manage the department.

  • Manage employee issue resolution activities within your department

  • Engage in honest, open and factual communications in a professional manner

  • Be proficient with key computer programs such as Word, Excel, Google, SAP, KRONOS, and other Whirlpool software.

  • Move throughout various departments throughout Amana Operations.

  • Resolve conflict in a respectful, confidential manner

  • Plan, organize and prioritize tasks as well as set expectations for the team leaders that are reporting to you.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)

  • 3+ years’ experience in managing employees in a manufacturing environment

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Assembly Line experience preferred

  • Must be highly motivated, with excellent organizational skills and leadership behaviors.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing assembly operations desired and ability to learn company philosophy, division policies and procedures.

  • Good communication skills, verbal and written are essential.

  • Use and understand applications of various communication and computer technologies; MS Office and Google, KRONOS, SAP

  • Ability to read, write, make oral presentations and communicate clearly to all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent planning and conflict resolution skills

  • Must value diversity of ideas, opinions, experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives needed to foster a competitive global business environment

  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
