In our 5 global studios, we have more than 100 designers in dedicated teams of Graphic Design, Color Material and Finish, Craftsmanship, Industrial Design, Trends Forecasting, User Interaction, Motion Graphics, Usability, Design Research, and Studio Engineering.
This position sits in our Design Center located in Southwest Michigan. The Design Center is the global headquarters for design at KitchenAid/Whirlpool Corporation.
In this Analyst level Industrial Design position, you will support efforts to understand emerging trends, seek out real-life insights, and create design solutions that will impact experiences for the next generation of housewares for the KitchenAid brand.
A portfolio showcasing your abilities as an Industrial Designer is necessary to be considered for this position. Please include a link to your portfolio on your resume or as an attachment to your application.
Your responsibilities will include
Create assets ranging from conceptual sketches, CAD models, physical prototypes, and high quality renderings/animations to communicate design intent.
Work with a variety of process partners to gain an understanding of marketing strategies, manufacturing requirements, and engineering constraints.
Grow an understanding of our design strategies and philosophies by working with cross-functional design leads.
Work with design specialists in graphic design, CMF, UI/UX, usability, and craftsmanship to create fully immersive experiences.
Leverage outside design resources to cover all of the diverse housewares portfolio.
Minimum requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Design
3+ years of professional Industrial Design experience in a corporate or consultant environment (excluding internships or academics)
Preferred skills and experiences
3D computer modeling and rendering
Strong project management and planning skills
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate communication across different disciplines
Strong decision-making abilities and self-motivation
Strong visual communication skills
Ability to adapt design intent through the development process.
