This role in summary

Whirlpool is currently looking for a qualified candidates for an Automation / Controls Engineer (Senior Analyst, Engineering) , opening to join our Cleveland, TN Premium Cooking Manufacturing organization. This role will be onsite.

You will serve as a technical resource and project leader in the development and application of equipment and systems across a variety of manufacturing processes. You will be the “go to” person to help direct resources to resolve day to day equipment upsets. You will be responsible to develop and implement designs to eliminate process interruptions along with other safety, quality and cost improvement projects to help achieve facility goals.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Increase plant equipment efficiency through programming logic and electrical improvements

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing electrical and programming issues

  • Identify, analyze and solve manufacturing process issues and equipment related problems

  • Provide technical support and leadership to maintenance support resources

  • Initiate problem solving and determine root cause of problems and implement corrective & preventive actions

  • Direct cross functional process improvement projects with the assistance of team members from all aspects of the division

  • Provide a critical link between the department and other process partners such as product design, assembly, finishing systems, maintenance, safety, quality, etc.

  • Communicate with and support a 24-hour / day manufacturing operation - phone and on site support

  • Provide technical support, leadership and mentoring to skilled trades within the organization

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • 2+ years of Electrical Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment including experience with controls

  • 2+ years of experience with Rockwell PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) software

  • 2+ years’ experience installing and configuring a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive)

  • 2+ years’ experience with AutoCad

Preferred skills and experiences

  • 2+ years working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems and associated electrical field devices

  • Experience updating existing technical drawings with Autocad

  • Experience with Fanuc Robotic’s

  • Experience with Rockwell servo motion and setup

  • Ignition software experience

  • Solid decision-making and judgment skills

  • Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives and completing tasks

  • Oral and written communication skills
