This role in summary

Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Pump Engineer opening to join our Dishwasher Team at the Saint Joseph Technology Center in Saint Joseph, Mi.

Reporting to the Global Wash System Manager, the engineer will be responsible for improving the cost and quality of our pumps globally and develop new pump technology for the future. The engineer will find ways to improve the reliability, sound, hydraulic and energy efficiency of our pumps. In addition, they will work closely with the lab, water filtration, water delivery and cycles team to improve wash performance. Moreover, work closely with our manufacturing team to ensure our pumps meet design for manufacturing and assembly requirements. The individual will also work with the System Architect, Global Wash System Manager and Procurement lead to develop and execute the module road map. The successful candidate will be joining a talented team of individuals within our well established and highly successful Saint Joseph Technology Center Dishwasher Team.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Research, design and development of pump technologies that create a compelling value proposition for our customers and our business.

  • Optimization of existing pump system performance, reliability and cost.

  • Setup and conduct data acquisition, analysis, and evaluation.

  • Actively participate in technical project review

  • Request and coordinate lab and model shop requests

  • Coordinate work with supply base, procurement and manufacturing

  • Conduct detailed design reviews of your designs

  • Develop long term pump module strategies globally

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in product development

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Masters Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • Centrifugal, Piston and alternate hydraulic pump design knowledge

  • Project management. Demonstrated ability to take projects to market preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Knowledge in manufacturing processes and variation

  • Knowledge in Six Sigma Design practices

  • Demonstrated interest and ability in thinking across disciplines and across teams

  • Excellent track record of accomplishment of goals and objectives

  • Outstanding people skills, with the specific ability to interact with team members

  • Knowledge in tolerance analysis

  • Knowledge in GD&T

  • Knowledge in 3D Modeling and Simulation Modeling (Examples: ANSYS, ADAMS, DYNA)

  • Basic knowledge of technologies in mechanical, refrigeration, chemical, or electrical areas.

  • Knowledge of basic technical equipment and power tools.

  • Development of data acquisition systems and experience in using analysis tools like Diadem and Minitab

  • Experience working with third parties such as suppliers and regulatory agents such as UL.
